If the measure of a school is its graduates, MJDS has clearly earned its reputation. Since our first class graduated in1992, more than 300 students have graduated from MJDS. Nearly all have gone on to college at some of the country’s top universities and colleges. Our graduates also have built a strong connection to Jewish tradition and community and many are active in synagogue and community life.
MJDS graduates have a rich history of distinguishing themselves and honoring their time at MJDS through an assortment of educational, personal and professional achievements. Whatever their endeavors are once leaving MJDS, our graduates are committed to action. They are indeed the next generation of 21st century leaders in our country and in our community.
As we prepare for our 25th anniversary, which will take place in 2009, we hope to establish an alumni council to help re-connect our graduates with both the school and each other to build a strong MJDS-alumni relationship. We are looking for a small, active core of alumni as class representatives, reunion volunteers, program organizers, contributors and participants to help plan future alumni programs and events as well as work on a permanent structure for the Alumni Association. We look to organize milestone-year class reunions and social, educational, and cultural events for all alumni and the entire school community as well as put together an alumni directory to help facilitate educational and vocational networking.
We want to know about your outstanding academic and personal achievements, life choices, and other news you wish to share. Let us know what you are up to. Whether you are a graduate or attended for a just year or two, we would love to hear from you and to help you stay connected with your MJDS friends. If you are interested in reaching out to fellow alumni, please join us by contacting Jeffrey Prottas, Development Director, at 952.381.3539 or jprottas@mjds.net.
When the Partnership for Excellence in Jewish Education (PEJE) and Brandeis released national findings in 2007 about the impact of Jewish day school on college students, MJDS had - for the first time - quantitative evidence to add to what we already knew anecdotally about how our alumni fair academically, socially, professionally and spiritually.
